Hybrid Transit Approved as an Indirect Air Carrier

February 12, 2009 – Today it was announced that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has approved Hybrid Transit Systems Inc. as an Indirect Air Carrier (I.A.C.)

With the aforementioned approval, Hybrid Transit Systems, Inc. operates under the terms and conditions of U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

Part of the Department of Homeland Security, this agency branch was created in the wake of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, to strengthen the security of the Nation's transportation systems.  With state, local and regional partners, they oversee security for the highways, railroads, buses, mass transit systems, ports and the 450 U.S. airports.

As an Indirect Air Carrier, Hybrid Transit Systems, Inc. follows the TSA guidelines. The guidelines requires Hybrid Transit Systems, Inc. to employ numerous screening methods to categorize all outgoing cargo as either coming from a “known” or “unknown” shipper through the use of the TSA ‘known shipper” database. Once classified, this status determines how the cargo will be handled by our IAC Security trained staff.
