Hybrid Transit Offers Assistance with CSA 2010 Compliance
March 1. 2010 - Hybrid Transit Systems, Inc., (SCAC: HYAT) announced today that it is offering assistance to carriers with their CSA 2010 compliance planning.
CSA 2010 is an initiative by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) designed to improve safety, compliance and enforcement programs. The new CSA 2010 standard holds carriers and drivers responsible for safety and performance.
Unlike the current compliance review program, the CSA 2010 approach directly monitors the safety and performance of individual drivers and monitors a driver’s record across multiple employers.
Unlike the current system, which employs SafeStat, CSA 2010 uses a new Safety Measurement System (SMS) to quantify on-road safety performance of carrier and drivers. The SMS takes into consideration the following Behavioral Analysis Safety Improvement Categories (BASICS):
- Unsafe Driving
- Fatigued Driving
- Driver Fitness
- Controlled Substance / Alcohol
- Vehicle Maintenance
- Cargo Issues
- Crashes
In order to effectively prepare for CSA 2010, Hybrid Transit recommends the following first steps:
- Ensure your compliance by reviewing inspections and violation history over the past two years.
- Be proactive and address safety issues now.
- Provide driver training to make drivers aware of the new standards. Make drivers aware of how their driving record impacts your safety record.
- Review and update your Motor Carrier Census Form.
- Visit the FMCSA CSA 2010 website often for the latest program information.
The experts at Hybrid Transit are available to help guide you through CSA 2010, safety compliance questions and other regulatory concerns. Whether you have questions regarding how CSA 2010 will impact your business or are unsure where to find the required information, contact Hybrid Transit today for assistance.
